Rogers Announces New Unlocking Policy And New Easy And Worry-Free US Roaming Rates

Rogers has announced two pieces of news yesterday:New Unlock Policy, March 2013

New Unlock Policy, March 2013: Rogers has just published on RedBoard that they are changing their unlocking policy to 90 days in March 2013. There are no further details at this time, but I’ll post more details when I get them.

Rogers to Revolutionize U.S. Wireless Data Roaming Rates for Canadians: Coming this Spring, Rogers is introducing a new $7.99 flat rate roaming fee that gives customers access to 50 megabytes of data over a 24 hour period while travelling in the U.S. The new rate allows customers to use nearly twice the data that they would typically use domestically. You can read the press release here.

One can hope that similar rates appear for other places than the US as I think that Rogers customers would really like that. In the meantime, you can see their rates for other countries at www.rogers.com/roaming. Of course, their new unlock policy can likely help with that as well as you can buy a local SIM card to keep your cell costs down when travelling.
