I got two pieces of news from Rogers yesterday. First, they announced an expansion of their LTE network:
I wanted to let you know that this week we launched our LTE Max network to a number of new markets including
- Muskoka, Ont.
- Sault Ste. Marie, Ont
- Brooks, Cochrane and Canmore, Alta.
- Sydney, N.S.
- we’re also expanding our coverage in the Moncton, N.B., area.
Our LTE network has also expanded to cover Saint-Georges, Que. and Bathurst, N.B.
Rogers LTE Max is a premium network made up of dual frequency 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz bands that enables the fastest speeds in Canada for a premium wireless internet experience. Rogers has the largest nationally deployed LTE Max network that gives our customers access to the fastest wireless speeds in Canada. As well, our premium LTE Max devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One or BlackBerry Q10, are optimized on our LTE Max Network.

Next they announced new rate changes as well:
Today we also have news about new rate changes available for single lines and family plans.
Here are a few details about the individual plans:
- Our $35 and $42 individual talk and text plans are now $30 and $35
- The $55 talk, text and Internet plan with 1,000 local minutes, 150 MB Internet and unlimited messaging is now $50
- We launched a few days ago a brand new $60 plan that includes 1,000 local minutes, 500 MB of wireless Internet and unlimited messaging
- Our $70, $80 and $100 plans talk, text and Internet plans now each have an additional 1GB of wireless Internet, going up to 2GB, 4GB and 6GB as a bonus until June 30th for new customers or existing customers making a change to their plan.
All of these plans include voicemail lite and call display.
Additionally, our Family Plans changed as follows:
- $140, $160 and $200 are all reduced by $10 (now $130, $150 and $190), and gaining each an 2 GB of wireless Internet to share between family members as a bonus until June 30th. Eg the new $130 family plan offer 4GB of wireless Internet, and our largest plan, the $190 plan offers now 12GB of wireless Internet.
- Family plan members will now get access to an exclusive device pricing on secondary family plan lines on the hottest devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One or the BlackBerry Z10
- Our $70 and $84 talk and text plans are now $50 and $60
Family plans also include voicemail lite and call display. They are all about keeping everyone connected while saving families money by offering savings with each secondary line added to the plan and simplifying their lives with the convenience of just one bill.
I have to admit that the fact that I’ll be able to get LTE service in more places is something that caught my attention. Which one of these announcements caught your attention?
