Rogers today announced a new pilot initiative called Connected for Success, which is part of the Rogers Youth Fund. Launching later this year, the pilot project will provide affordable broadband internet, computers and software to Toronto Community Housing (TCH). Participants who qualify will have access to $9.99 per month for broadband internet speeds of 3Mbps and usage allowance up to 30 GB. Microsoft Canada and Compugen are supporting the program by providing the option to purchase a computer for $150.00 that will come pre-loaded with complimentary software along with access to technical support. My thoughts on this. Bravo to Rogers for doing something to close the so-called digital divide. I’m a big believer that technology can solve all sorts of problems if you give people access to it. I think you’ll now see that in action with this initiative.
