You Can Get A Fully Charged Tesla In 90 Seconds….. Video Proof Below

It is no secret that I am not completely sold on electric cars. One of the the main things that keep me from really buying into them is the fact that there’s no distribution network to keep them “refuled”. It’s not as if you can get a red can of electricity if you run out of juice. If you do need to recharge, it can take hours. Right?

Wrong. Tesla is out to change that. They’re in this midst of building out a network of charging stations called Tesla Superchargers which will be located on well-traveled highways in North America. You’ll be able to get half a charge in about 20 minutes for free. That will get you about 200 miles of distance. Expect this network of charging stations to cover 98% of the US and Canada by 2015.

Now that’s not bad as it takes one of my main objections off the table. But what if you need a full charge and you need it fast? You will have option of swapping the battery pack for a fully charged one in 90 seconds. That’s faster than you can fill a gas tank.

Don’t believe me? Here’s video proof:

I have to admit that I’m impressed. Clearly Tesla wants to make electric cars mainstream cars. This is a great first step.
