Today was a day that BlackBerry had a lot of news. First they announced software that secures iOS and Android devices:
Secure Work Space for iOS and Android is a new option with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (version 10.1.1) that offers customers with a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy, a solution with the best combination of security, user experience and total cost of ownership. BlackBerry designed Secure Work Space to meet the management, security and cost needs of the CIO, and the user experience and functionality that employees demand.
Seeing as many of these devices are used for both business and personal use, this will be something that will be of interest to BlackBerry customers. It will also make managing these devices much easier. That sounds like a win to me. If you run BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, you should take a look at the press release as I think it will be of interest to you. Oh, the BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 server software is free to download. Annual client access licenses for Secure Work Space are $99 per year per device.
Now onto announcement number two. MLSE who owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, The Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC, and the Toronto Marlies has inked a deal where they will adopt BlackBerry smartphones as their official smartphone along with some associated services that will be BlackBerry specific:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with BlackBerry and this announcement means exciting things are in store for BlackBerry customers and Maple Leafs and Raptors fans everywhere,” said David Hopkinson, senior vice-president, global partnerships and marketing for MLSE. “We look forward to bringing unprecedented access and some amazing experiences to our fans through this partnership over the next several years.”
Let’s hope that this helps these teams win championships.
