Telus is adding a new tool to their use of Twitter to advance the point that Verizon should be stopped from coming into the country and attempting to get the Canadian Government to change it’s policy on wireless competition. They’ve launched canadaplayfair.com which advocates their position further. It has a petition for you to sign along with variety of resources including links to fairforcanada.ca which is the website that the big three teclos have launched to further advocate their points. Plus it has articles from the media on this topic that support what Telus is saying. This site joins the Bell Play Fair website that I previously spoke of.
My thoughts on this? I am not sure how much the message that Verizon shouldn’t enter Canada or that Government policy needs to change resonates with the average Canadian who has a cell phone and perceives that they pay too much. But you cannot blame Telus for trying to get their points across as long as they do it in a way that doesn’t alienate those they want to reach. This website doesn’t do that from what I can tell. So at least they’ve done good on that front.
Another point, this makes two of the big three to have sites like these. The question is, where’s Rogers version of this sort of site?
