Here’s some good news for BlackBerry, Univision which runs 60 local broadcast TV and 70 radio stations for Hispanic viewers and listeners has decided to upgrade all their mobile users to BlackBerry Q10’s. That’s 2000 users that are not going to some other platform. Here’s what they had to say about it from a joint press release:
“The new BlackBerry 10 operating system is an enterprise-friendly and enterprise-ready platform for getting things done,” said Univision CIO Christopher Furst. “BlackBerry has listened to the functionality we have asked for and continues to develop products that enable Univision to support employees working remotely.”
Associated with this is one other piece of news. The companies also announced that the UVideos app offering on BlackBerry World, is now available and that means that Univision viewers can look at thousands of hours of the most popular content among Hispanics in both Spanish and English on BlackBerry 10 smartphones.
BlackBerry really needed a win given all their negative PR. Now they have it and the question becomes this. Will it build momentum?
