Rogers Announces Share Everything

If you’re a Rogers customer and you have multiple cell phones or smart phones on your account, you’ll need to pay attention to this. Today, Rogers announced Share Everything. Here’s the value proposition from my contact at Rogers:

Today, Rogers is announcing the launch of Share Everything, Canada’s first complete wireless share plans that allow individuals, families, friends or small businesses to share wireless data, internet, unlimited nationwide talk and text, call display and voicemail across any 10 wireless devices; supporting twice as many devices when compared to other Canadian carriers.

Rogers Share Everything plans allow customers and small businesses to connect up to 10 wireless devices – smartphones, talk and text phones, tablets, the Rocket stick, hub and mobile hotspot – to a single plan. Customers choose the data bucket that suits their needs and share that data across devices for greater flexibility and savings. Share Everything plans also include unlimited nationwide talk and text, call display and voicemail.

The sharing options are also flexible – for example, talk and text phones can be added as one of the devices, allowing someone to access plan features such as unlimited local and long distance calling without using any data.

Customers who bring their own device save up to $20 on their monthly Share Everything plan price or the cost of adding a line to their plan. Wireless Home Phone may be added to a Share Everything plan in select markets.

I had a look at the plans that are being offered. In my case, both my wife and I have unlimited everything with 6 Gigs for $75/month each. With these new plans we’d need at least the 10 GB shared option which would put us at $175 a month versus $150 we pay now. So in my case, it isn’t a savings for us. But I’m guessing that there are scenarios where Share Everything would save you money. Plus, these are two year terms, while the plans that I’m on are three year terms. So going to a two year term might be of value.

As always, I’d suggest looking at your situation and make your decision based on that. But I will say that Share Everything sounds intriguing.
