Rogers Plans To Invest $700 Million In Alberta

Rogers via RedBoard announced that they are investing $700 million in the province of Alberta over the next four years. This includes the following:

  • LTE coverage sites increased by 40 per cent. Additional communities such as Leduc and Chertermere will access Canada’s fastest wireless internet from Rogers
  • Dozens of new retail stores, providing Rogers customers with more access to technology and customers service. Plus,  this will open up more job opportunities in the province
  • More innovative machine-to-machine and connected business solutions, particularly in the oil and gas sector

Not only that, hockey fans (seeing as tonight is the start of the NHL season) will be happy to know that this also includes a multi-year sponsorship of the Edmonto Oilers as they are now the official telecommunications sponsor. They also have sponsorship and marketing rights for the Oil Kings and Rexall Centre.

Given that they this province has had a bit of a hard time with some disastrous floods this summer, I am sure this is welcome news.
