BlackBerry Moves Device Management To The Cloud

BlackBerry announced a cloud based enterprise mobility management solution at the Gartner Symposium/ITXpo 2013. Here’s why this matters. Instead of setting up servers, this  new service will allow for management of devices, but moves things to the cloud. Admins can easily use the service through a web-based admin console. A self-service console for end users is also available to help with setting up devices (BlackBerry, iOS and Android devices are supported), changing passwords and the like. Plus end users can manage their own devices. The bottom line is that a business gets enterprise like security for their mobile devices without the complexity and cost. That will be attractive to SMB types in my opinion.

The service is currently in a beta phase and will be available soon in full release for a monthly subscription. You can get more details here.
