How To Opt Out Of Google Endorsements

On Saturday, I posted a story about a change in Google’s terms of service that allowed Google to show users’ names, photos, ratings and comments in ads across the Web. In effect, endorsing products without your permission up front.

Good thing that The Boy Genius is on the case as he’s got a way to avoid this:

In order to withdraw from Shared Endorsements, simply log in to your Google account (if you aren’t already logged in), click this link, which leads to the Shared Endorsement settings, scroll to the bottom of the page, and uncheck the box next to this statement: “Based upon my activity, Google may show my name and profile photo in shared endorsements that appear in ads.” Then click Save.

I’ll be doing that with the Google account that I use to test Android phones and post YouTube videos, while at the same time cutting back om my usage of Google services as that’s a better way of dealing with this in my opinion.
