Earlier today, I got two e-mails from Rogers with three pieces of news. The first involves the launch of Kids Zone on Rogers On Demand. Here’s what they had to say on that:
Kids Zone is available to Rogers cable customers on Rogers On Demand on channel 200, but also on our Rogers Anyplace TV on computers, tablets, smartphones, Xbox 360 and LG Smart TVs.
The mobile and tablet app allow our cable customers to stream live TV programming wherever they are. On tablet, viewing times can be controlled in 30 minute increments, a useful tool for parents.
Next up was another app that was announced today:
Also announced today is a TV Recommendation App for all NextBox customers in Ontario. A first for cable customers in Canada, the new app recommends similar programs based on what you’re currently viewing or just finished watching. Suggestions are based on things like genre and the starring actors.
Finally Rogers rolling-out our new loyalty program, Rogers First Rewards:
Starting this week in the GTA and progressing to Ottawa, Kingston, Sudbury and other cities in Ontario, the unique loyalty program is expected to award consumers across Canada with 1.2 billion points by the end of the year (that equals over 3M video on demand rewards or 2.4M GB of additional wireless data rewards!).
This rollout milestone represents a huge opportunity for Rogers cable, wireless and internet customers to earn rewards just for being with Rogers. With over 65 million points issued since launch, a number of customers are already redeeming their points for exciting rewards like Video OnDemand and more.
That is likely to create an incentive to move as many services as possible to Rogers in order to score rewards. If you want more info, click here.
