Annoucements That I Missed From Google, Sonos, And Telus

I am catching up on some announcements from yesterday that I missed because of a significant story that I am working on for tomorrow. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Google announced the global availability of their new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet. You can view more details here and here. Telus sent me a note to let me know that both will available with them later this year. I’ve already put myself into line for them to review.
  • Google also announced the Nexus Player which is the first device that runs Android TV. Designed in collaboration with ASUS, the round hockey puck-style Nexus Player is designed to compete with the Apple TV, serving as a streaming media player for movies, music, and videos.
  • Sonos announced BOOST which is there most powerful wireless accessory. It’s built to keep the music playing in even the most challenging WiFi conditions, no matter where you want to put a speaker in your home. Similar to the BRIDGE, BOOST connects directly to your router to create a dedicated network, allowing all your Sonos speakers and components to talk to each other, with up to 50% greater wireless range. In addition to expanding the reach of your system, BOOST’s three internal antennas help neutralize any interference from other consumer electronics that might typically cause dropouts. It’s available today for $109 CDN on sonos.com and through select retailers.
