Prezi Scores $57 Million Investment

I’ve previously done a In Depth look at Prezi which makes a cutting edge presentation package, thus it got my attention when I heard that they got a significant capital investment of $57 million. Here are the key details:

Prezi, the presentation platform that helps people connect more powerfully with their audiences, announced today that it has received a $57 million investment from Spectrum Equity, a leading growth equity firm, with participation from existing investor, Accel Partners. Spectrum, whose previous investments include prominent subscription-based businesses such as Ancestry.com, SurveyMonkey and Lynda.com, led the financing. Prezi plans to use this investment to accelerate its rapid global growth.  The company also announced today that it has surpassed 50 million users,  nearly doubling in the past 12 months.  With more than 160 million prezis created to date, Prezi has the world’s largest publicly available presentation database.

Looking at whom Spectrum Equity has invested in, they clearly have a track record of picking winners. Thus this might be a sign that Prezi is on the road to something big. I guess we’ll have to keep an eye on them to find out.
