Fido Is Getting Curious

Confused about the title of this post? Hang with me for a bit. It will all make sense.

Fido today announced a bunch of changes. They’re introducing Fido Pulse plans which include:

  • Spotify Premium which will give customers all the music they’ll ever need, instantly on any device, without ads. You can even take your tunes offline, so your music is always with you.
  • DAILY VICE is an original, raw, mobile news app created exclusively for Fido customers. The first mobile show from VICE, DAILY VICE will report the day’s top news and culture stories from across VICE’s network of digital channels and showcase a first look at VICE’s documentaries Monday through Friday. With a revolving group of hosts from the VICE universe, DAILY VICE provides international and local stories from a Canadian perspective in a quick hitting six-minute video. In addition, every Saturday DAILY VICE will feature an in depth interview with the biggest news and cultural influencers in Canada.  Anyone with a Fido number can head to FidoHub.ca and download the Android or iOS app for a freeview of DAILY VICE (with Fido) starting today until Oct 15th OR switch to the new Fido Pulse plans. DAILY VICE will be available to all Canadians for three weeks on a freeview through VICE.com.
  • Fido Pulse Plans includ many data options, Canada-wide minutes, unlimited Canada-wide text, picture and video messaging. More details can be found here.

On top of that, Fido has started to use the hashtag #GetCurious along with fido.ca/getcurious. Plus they’ve also rolled out a new logo. Clearly it’s a bit of a brand refresh for Fido. We’ll see how it is received in the marketplace.
