Investigations are apparently underway after it came to light that a cyberattack might have taken place and City Of Toronto employees among others might have their personal data in the wild:
It’s believed that information related to government employees, including ones in Toronto, was leaked when a company called ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Canada was targeted.
Things like names, e-mail addresses and partial credit card information were reportedly released.
The web developer for ITS Canada, Biz-Zone, has confirmed to NEWSTALK 1010 that an attack occurred this week, but was not able to confirm what information was leaked.
Details are kind of sketchy at the moment, but if this is true, this shows yet again that Canada is unprepared to deal with Cyberattacks and they need to step up their game. Watch this space for more details as they become available.
