iOS 9.3.1 Flaw Lets Anyone Access Your iPhone Using Siri & 3D Touch
I have to admit that Apple’s software quality has really taken a hit lately. The latest punch to the gut comes from this Youtube video that shows how to bypass a lock screen on an iDevice running iOS 9.3.1 using Siri and 3D Touch:
Keep in mind that Apple just released iOS 9.3.1 to fix a bug that caused the iDevice to crash when they clicked on some types of links. Not to mention that iOS 9.3 had to be pulled and reposted because installing it on older iDevices bricked the device in question.
There’s no fix for this latest issue yet, but it’s a safe bet that Apple is going to be working on one to keep iDevice users safe and to save some face. In the meantime, you should do the following to protect yourself:
Head to Settings > Privacy and switch off Siri’s access to Twitter and Photos.
To stop it accessing your contacts, you’ll need to disable Siri’s lock screen activation by heading to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
One has to wonder when Apple will get their act together in terms of making sure that their software is bug free as these #fails are starting to become way too frequent.
