If you have a Windows Phone, BlackBerry or a Amazon Kindle Fire, PayPal will not have an app for your device after the end of June. The company said this in a blog post that was posted earlier this week:
It was a difficult decision to no longer support the PayPal app on these mobile platforms, but we believe it’s the right thing to ensure we are investing our resources in creating the very best experiences for our customers. We remain committed to partnering with mobile device providers, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers.
I think the translation goes something like this. There’s not enough Windows Phone, BlackBerry or Amazon Kindle Fire users out there to justify making apps for those platforms. BlackBerry users specifically will feel that this is another slap in the face as
this is not the first time that they’ve been abandoned by a software company. It also further underscores the fact the smartphone market is owned by Apple and Google at present.
