Something To Experiment With: The Quad9 Public DNS

When I get back to Canada, I am going to try out the new Quad9 (or 9.9.9.9) public DNS service that is a effort of the The Global Cyber Alliance who’s members are the City of London Police, the District Attorney of New York County and the Center for Internet Security. It’s a play on the 999 emergency number that is like the 911 service in North America. What makes this DNS service unique is the fact that checks them against IBM X-Force’s threat intelligence database. Those checks protect against landing on any websites and images X-Force has found to be dangerous. And there are lots of those out there. Now I won’t get a chance to try this out until the weekend. But if you want to give it ago, there are some setup videos here that you can view. Just do me a favor and leave a comment below and let me know what you think.
