Over the weekend when I was driving about, I noted that my Apple Maps screen in Apple CarPlay was different. Specifically the circled area in this screenshot:

For the first time in Canada, you can actually see speed limits inside Apple Maps. Now this was promised when iOS 11 came out and we’re likely about a month from iOS 12 hitting the streets. Thus I suppose its appearance is better late than never. Now I believe that this is still in the process of being rolled out as I noted this on highway 400 and highway 401. But I did not see this appear on any city streets that I drove. Plus Apple’s own availability page indicates that this feature is not available in Canada.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this and I will update you accordingly.

Apple Maps Speed Limit Notifications Seem To Be Rolling Out In Canada
