We live in an online-obsessed world where privacy breaches have become the norm and while we’ve become hyper-focused on protecting ourselves online, sometimes we miss what happens in-person. HP’s Creepers & Peekers Survey uncovers secret behaviors of Canadian office workers and explores why people “creep” on laptop screens and “peek” at documents found in printer trays.
Key Findings Include:
- 8 in 10 admit they restrict the content they look at in public and look at others’ screens without their knowledge.
- 4 in 5 creep on their coworkers’ screens, and half of office workers say they rush to the printer every time they print something personal to prevent someone else from seeing it first.
- 2 in 10 say they creep when they could gain something from it.
For office workers concerned that their privacy will be compromised on a laptop, HP’s new Spectre x360 offers features that provide peace of mind such as the HP Webcam Kill Switch, dedicated mute mic key, and optional built-in privacy screen, HP Sure View. To learn more about how critical endpoints, like PCs and printers, continue to be significant security blind spots for global businesses, HP also released a study in partnership with IDC focusing on the security policies and viewpoints of 500 IT leaders across five countries in the European Union and North America. While cybercrime surges to become a $600 billion problem globally, only 1 in 3 respondents identify endpoint device security as a significant component of their organization’s overall cyber security strategy.
