US Working To Cut A Deal With Huawei CFO

It seems that the US wants to get Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou to gut a deal with them. Here’s what CBC News had to say:

The U.S. Justice Department is talking to representatives of Meng Wanzhou about a potential deal that would allow the Chinese telecom executive to return home from Canada in exchange for signing a deferred prosecution agreement admitting criminal wrongdoing, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

In short, she’d admit to violating trade sanctions on Iran for her freedom. Also, the word on the street is this deal will encourage China to return Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor who the Chinese have held hostage since the saga began. But of course, this is all rumor as opposed to fact and we’ll have to see how this plays out. But it would be really nice to put an end to this saga.
