RGB MiniLED technology hasn’t just changed the game when it comes to watching TV; it has redefined the experience, bringing it as close to true life as we have ever seen on a screen.
For decades, TV innovation has been striving to create a picture that looks as lifelike as possible. That challenged has been tackled by going right back to the source, changing the way a television generates colour at the very beginning. The technology is based on MiniLED innovation that produces a picture from tens of thousands of little diodes. But where MiniLED diodes emit white and blue light through a filter, RGB MiniLED uses independent red, blue and green LEDs to precisely control colour and brightness. This delivers more pure colours, stunning brightness and deeper contrast that makes movies, sports and games look more vivid and lifelike.
Hisense introduced the first consumer RGB MiniLED television to market in 2025, and has advanced on that innovation in its latest RGB MiniLED models with an expanded colour spectrum and more depth in the wave length precision. But what exactly does this mean, and how does it improve the viewing experience?
- This is a natural evolution from MiniLED technology — Tens of thousands of little diodes were a significant leap forward in the quality of picture seen on a television. By making those diodes red, green and blue, Hisense has pushed that a step further.
- Richer, more natural colour — From a technical perspective, RGB MiniLED has a 100% BT.2020 colour coverage. In practical terms, this means Hisense’s RGB MiniLED technology has an advanced colour standard that enables a much wider range of vivid and lifelike colours in every scene, all without the need for a Quantum Dot film. On the screen, it results in more lifelike views of everything from skin tones and landscapes to sports uniforms and animated content. What the viewer watches will look very close to what the creator intended.
- High brightness — Bright scenes can retain vivid, convincing colour without appearing washed out. This brings greater realism to everything from sunlight to stadium lights to explosions.
- Strong contrast and cleaner details — The colour control provided by RGB MiniLED technology reduces “blooming” (a white halo that may appear around objects) because the backlight matches the colour of the object on the screen.
- A strong fit for sports — For sports fans cheering on their favourite team, the combination of colour accuracy, contrast and high brightness makes the picture easier to follow, keeping details visible across fast-moving, brightly-lit action.
The Hisense UX Series is the flagship RGB MiniLED television in the company’s roster, which has expanded this year with the UR9 series and the recently released UR8 series.
