In the last episode of The Indian Department Of Telecom VS Research In Motion, the addiction device Blackberry maker had 15 days to open their network to snooping by the Indian government, or BlackBerry service would be shut down in the country. Now in the latest installment, the DOT of India wants RIM to move some of their infrastructure into the country to facilitate their previous request or (wait, this might sound vaguely familiar) the Indian government will shut down BlackBerry service in the country. To add to the fun and games, RIM and the DOT have been summoned for a meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs to get this matter sorted out.
All together now…. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?
I’ll repeat what I said the last time I wrote about this: I really hope that RIM doesn’t bend over to these clowns as that will set a dangerous precedent that would affect themselves and others.
In the meantime, e-mail addicts in the Indian sub-continent must be sweating bullets.
