As promised by “The Steve” on Tuesday, the iPhone 2.1 firmware has been released to the world via iTunes. The new firmware contains a number of security enhancements including a fix for the bug that allows a user to bypass a password on the phone. It also has a new feature that wipes the phone if you type the password incorrectly 10 times. That’s a great feature for the paranoid, but I wouldn’t want that feature turned on if I had kids.
Reports are starting to appear on the Interwebs here and here and so far it looks positive. If you’ve got feedback of your own, please leave a comment.
