Shares of Yahoo were sent downward today after Microsoft Chief Executive Officer and chair thower Steve Ballmer made some comments that indicate that the software giant is no longer interested in Yahoo:
“Look, we made an offer, we made another offer. It was clear that Yahoo didn’t want to sell the business to us, and we moved on. We are not interested in going back and relooking at an acquisition…I don’t know why they would be either, frankly.”
If you’re Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang, you must just be freaking out. This combined with Google deciding not to pursue an advertising partnership deal means that his days as CEO are numbered. It also means that Yahoo is likely screwed as well.
It really sucks to be them.
