iPods And iPhones Banned From Gates Household…. But Mrs. Gates Lusts For An iPhone Anyway

I normally don’t read women’s magazines, but this article in Vogue caught my attention.  Melinda Gates, the wife of former Microsoft CEO and co-founder Bill Gates admitted to lusting after the iPhone. This despite the fact that Apple’s iGadgets are verboten in the Gates household:

“There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household,” Gates said. “But iPods and iPhones are two things we don’t get for our kids.” Despite the ban, Gates says she is attracted to Apple’s handset. “Every now and then I look at my friends and say, ‘Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone.’”

I’m sure that the fact that she wants an iPhone goes over really well with Bill. But the need to ban non-Microsoft stuff is not new. Microsoft CEO and chair thrower Steve Ballmer has not only banned the iGadgets, but he’s taken it one step further and banned Google too:

My children–in many dimensions they’re as poorly behaved as many other children, but at least on this dimension I’ve got my kids brainwashed: You don’t use Google, and you don’t use an iPod.

This must make them the most unpopular kids in the history of the universe EVER. Oh, I’m sure that they too lust for an iGadget and they likely use Google at their friends homes behind daddy’s back too because it’s out of range of any chair that he might throw.
