Apple Releases Update For IOS To Address Tracking Issues

If you’ve kind of ticked about the fact that your iPhone or iPad tracks your every move, today is your lucky day. Apple has released two updates that address this issue. You can click here to see all the details (or click here if you’re on Verizon), but here’s the highlights:

  • Reduces the size of the cache
  • No longer backs the cache up to iTunes
  • Deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off

There is one thing that I’d like to point out. What about iPhone 3G users? Apple hasn’t had an update for this phone since March of this year, and this update doesn’t cover that phone. So I’m guessing that you’re stuck with this “feature” unless you dump the phone. That sucks. I guess Apple only sees you as a customer if you keep buying their products.

Eerily similar to the words uttered by G5 owners in 2009.

  2. They still have not fixed the major battery suckage issues in 4.3.x
