Apple Opens Apple Store In RIM’s Backyard

If you’re RIM, the opening of an Apple Store within blocks of your headquarters must have got your attention:

More than 200 people lined up outside a new Apple store in Waterloo Saturday morning, as the California-based technology giant brought the battle of the smartphones to the hometown of BlackBerry maker Research in Motion.

The new store is just a 10-minute drive from RIM headquarters, where thousands of local residents are employed.

Now, is this a shot at RIM from Apple? No way. Apple is opening a store here because the Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario area is full of people that fit Apple’s target demographic. That is hip and tech savvy people with cash. Still Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie the co-CEO’s of RIM can’t be happy with the prospect of seeing even more iPhones and iPads in their backyard.

“Now, is this a shot at RIM from Apple? ” So is this is RIM shot or not? 🙂 I could not help it….I had to…..

Hey, that is much better than when the layoffs happened and all those people no longer had RIM jobs 🙂
