iPhone 4s Has Problems With Battery Life, Audio, And Siri… Fanbois Despair

If you have an iPhone 4s, you’re likely not a happy camper at the moment. First, Apple admitted that there is a software problem with the iPhone 4s that causes it to drain its battery faster than it should:

“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,” Apple said in a released statement.

“We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”

I’m not so sure that it’s a “small number” as Twitter seems to have a healthy amount of people who are complaining about this. At least it’s being handled better than “Antennagate.” The second problem is a significant outage with the Siri assistant that is present within the iPhone 4s that started yesterday:

The Siri problems have been ongoing for at least three hours, with only intermittent service available over that time. In general, users have been faced with error messages in which Siri reports being unable to connect to the network.

Now to be fair, Apple considers the service to be a beta. So this is something that users can expect to see over the next little while. Third, the Boy Genius reports that users are complaining about audio issues:

According to multiple threads on Apple’s support forum, hundreds of iPhone 4S users are experiencing an audio echo during voice calls when using a wired headset. Users across multiple wireless carriers with various iPhone 4S models report that audio quality on voice calls often depletes after a period of time, and the voice of the caller on the other end of the line begins to echo. BGR was able to independently confirm the echo bug on one of our iPhone 4S handsets.

Clearly Apple has some issues with the iPhone 4s. You can bet that many eyes will be watching them deal with these issues as they are the current smartphone kings as that’s what happens when you are at the top of the heap.
