My Google Alerts just lit up with the news that the CEO of Rogers Communications Nadir Mohamed has decided to retire in early 2014. This is clearly big as multiple sources are reporting this story. The one thing that caught me off guard is the fact the Google Alerts relating to this started to appear just after 10PM last night which was Valentines day. I would imagine that many people in the media who have significant others would have other things to do on that night. Thus the timing is kind of weird. In any case, he’s ran the company since the death of Ted Rogers who founded the company and has done his best to grow the business. Though that’s starting to level off given that the company has to deal with the likes of Wind Mobile, Public Mobile and others. Rogers will be looking for a replacement externally immediately.
