Teen Charged In Relation To Bell Canada Hack

Back in February, I posted the news that Bell Canada had been hacked and customer data had been accessed posted to the Internet. The CBC is now reporting that a Quebec teen has been charged in relation to this incident:

The youth, who cannot be identified because of his age, was arrested at a Bagotville, Que., residence early Friday and charged with one count of unauthorized use of a computer and two counts of mischief in relation to data.

Police said he is believed to be a member of a hacktivist group NullCrew, alleged to be responsible for hacking into computers of businesses, schools and government agencies.

The youth is scheduled to appear in Ottawa court Aug. 19.

What’s interesting about this is that the RCMP had help from the FBI to get this teen. That suggests that this crime crossed borders. I’d suggest that you keep an eye on this case as there maybe more to come.
