Seeing as I just came back from a two week round the world trip, this announcement from Telus caught my eye. As a result of customer feedback, the company is no longer charging the $0.60 incoming SMS fee for Telus customers roaming outside Canada. Now, customers can receive unlimited incoming text messages free of charge and feel more comfortable keeping their phones on while they travel abroad.
This is an interesting change that I think the other members of the “big three” will likely adopt as well. We’ll have to watch and see if that actually pans out.
