Hacking Team Data Dump Posted On Wikileaks Site

In an interesting twist, WikiLeaks has published a searchable database of over a million leaked emails from Hacking Team. Those were the guys who got massively hacked and pwned this week by people looking to expose their dirty laundry. Such as dealing with oppressive regimes and selling their powerful hacking tools to anyone who will pay for them. You may want to start looking through these e-mails to see what you can find. Hint: You may need Google Translate to translate from Italian to English. But for fun I took a look and I note the following:

  • The FBI spent a lot of money on Hacking Team’s snooping software despite the fact that they have their own snooping software. I’m sure someone in congress is going to be asking questions about that shortly.
  • Canadian cops looked into buying their software. Specifically the RCMP and the Vancouver Police. On top of that, members of Hacking Team came to Canada in connection to this.
  • Indian police and intelligence agencies were looking into getting their stuff as well as I found e-mails that refer to that.

This data dump is very eye opening and I encourage you to look at to see if there’s anything that’s interesting to you. If there is something that catches your eye, let me know by posting a comment.
