Apple Issues Recall For Mid 2015 Retina MacBook Pros Over Fire Risk…. Owners Need To Take Action ASAP

Earlier today, Apple issued a recall for owners of the 15″ Retina MacBook Pro units sold roughly between September 2015 and February 2017 (aka the Mid 2015 Retina MacBook Pro) because of a risk of fire due to a defect in the battery. Now I’ve checked mine and I am not affected by this, but you may not be so lucky. Thus you need to visit this website and enter your serial number to see if your Mid 2015 Retina MacBook Pro is affected. If your MacBook Pro is affected, stop using it immediately and get the battery replaced as per the instructions on that page.

As for why this is happening, Apple isn’t saying. But my guess is that it has something to do with this incident that made the rounds recently:
