This story started to appear all over the Interwebs yesterday basically saying that Google was developing it’s own router. The thing is that Google currently relies on Juniper for it’s networking gear which would make Google their biggest customer. So news that their biggest customer is going to make their own router isn’t good news for them or their investors. As a result, Juniper stock dropped 5% yesterday. What is interesting is that Cisco is allegedly one of the sources for this rumor. Google said that they don’t comment on rumors, but that’s what they said when they were working on the Chrome browser.
This sounds like FUD to me… Or there could be something to it. Stay tuned to find out which it is.
