Rogers Announces Pricing For Sony Xperia X10 [UPDATED]

My “best friends at Rogers” have given me all the details on the impending launch of the Sony Xperia X10 smartphone. Here’s the key points:

  • The device will be $149.99 on a three year voice and data plan.
  • You can pre-order the device until April 14th as I’ve mentioned previously.
  • It will be available in stores on April 15th.

The one thing that I haven’t really talked about in any great detail are the specs, so…:

  • 4-inch capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 854 resolution,
  • 1Ghz processor,
  • 8-megapixel camera,
  • GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSPA (850/1900/2100 MHz)
  • 1 GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for 32 GB card.

The only thing that I can’t find out is what version of Android it runs. Whatever version of Android it uses, it will be customized by Sony though. From previous experience those customizations will add value to the phone.

It will be interesting to see what the public reaction is to this phone when it hits store shelves.

UPDATE: My “best friends at Rogers” sent me this clarification: “The X10 is launching with OS 1.6. but Sony Ericsson has told us that the X10 will be upgradeable to later releases of the Android OS later this year.”
