Rogers Announces NextBox 2.0….Canadian TV Just Got Enhanced

Something that I didn’t get around to posting until today is the announcement by Rogers of NextBox 2.0. In short, here’s the deal:

  • Whole Home PVR: Now with a single PVR, you can watch your recorded shows from any TV in your home with a NextBox HD Terminal.
  • Rogers Live TV: Stream 22 live TV channels on your iPad or Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet using your home Wi-Fi connection.
  • An enhanced interactive TV guide: A sleek and intuitive new HD interface, with advanced search capabilities.
  • More tailored cable and internet packages: Usage-based packaging options.

The latter might be of particular interest to Rogers customers. I can choose the services best suited to my TV and internet needs. All packages come with a discounted monthly TV service, NextBox 2.0 free for 6 months and a PVR Extender that allows you to record and store even more of your favorite shows.

All the details can be found on Rogers Redboard.

Personally, I’d also like to see the ability to program your PVR via your smartphone just like Bell customers do. But this is a step forward of sorts.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

  1. Just an FYI,

You can program your PVR via your cell phone (ios and Android), but it’s limited to the 8300 model PVR, not the newer 8642.

  2. So what! Look at what Shaw is offering and then tell me again how good Rogers is!

  3. There is an app to control your pvr for Rogers!! I add, erase and program while out of the house. Call tv manager.
