Rogers Expands LTE Coverage And Announces A Loyalty Program Too

This is one of those days where Rogers is announcing a lot of news. First up is the latest expansion of their LTE network with two areas where customers will get LTE for the first time from any carrier:

  • Lennoxville, Quebec, where Rogers customers will be the first to switch to LTE
  • Joliette, Quebec
  • Truro, Nova Scotia, also a market where Rogers customers will be the first to switch to LTE
  • Chilliwack, British Columbia
  • Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
  • Spruce Grove/Stony Plain, Alberta

Here are the cities in the Greater Montreal Area (GMA) where they’ve expanded their LTE network:

  • GMA North Expansion: Mirabel, Saint-Jerome, Sainte-Sophie, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Mascouche, Saint-Colomban, Terrebonne
  • GMA South Expansion: Les Coteaux, Coteau-du-Lac, Saint Lazare, Hudson, Salaberrie-de-Valleyfield, Melocheville, Beauharnois, Mercier, Léry

If you visit Rogers Redboard, you can see what they have done to bring LTE to as many Canadians as possible.

Next up is a new Loyalty program from Rogers called Rogers First Rewards. Here’s what my contact had to say to me via e-mail:

With Rogers First Rewards, customers will earn points on eligible purchases. These points can then be redeemed for a wide selection of Rogers products and services.

Customers will have access to rewards depending on their region. Wireless rewards include: U.S. and international roaming packs; talk, and text packs; long distance calling and more. Within Rogers cable footprint, customers can redeem their points for rewards including: Upgraded internet packages; home phone long distance; premium TV content and Rogers On Demand packages.

“Our customers have told us they want to be rewarded for their loyalty and we’ve listened to their feedback,” said John Boynton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Rogers Communications. “We’ve worked diligently over the last few years to create an easy and simple program to thank our customers for their business and to show our appreciation.”

Customers enrolled in the loyalty program are assigned a Rogers First Rewards tier and point accrual rate based on an average of total account holder’s spend: Silver Tier customers earn 1 point per dollar, Gold Tier customers earn 1.5 points per dollar, and Platinum Tier customers earn 2 points per dollar. The program will be available to consumer cable, wireless, internet and home phone customers in key markets across the country throughout the year. Eligible customers will be notified and enrolled when the loyalty program becomes available in their region.

As always, there’s a RedBoard post with more details that you should look at if you’re interested.
