Investigating A Tech Support Scam

I recently got involved in helping a client deal with being a victim of a tech support scam. In the process of doing so, I learned a lot about the scammers who go by the name of “People Connect Inc.” and what they do to the unsuspecting. I’ve complied what I learned in a four part report that covers all of that, and how you can avoid getting scammed, and what to do if you have been scammed:

Part 1: The Call

Part 2: Who Are People Connect Inc.?

Part 3: What Did These Scammers Try And Do?

Part 4: How To Avoid Getting Scammed

Shortly after doing this investigation, I came across another tech support scam. You can read all about it here. And I’ve come across another similar scam that targeted a senior with cognitive issues which infuriates me to no end. You can read the details here as well as the follow up here. On top of all of that, People Connect Inc. has hit a new low in terms of their scumbag activities which you can read about here.

Another scam that has been popular for some time is the fake tech support pop up scam. Read about how one couple got caught out by that scam here.
