Review: Mr. Nutcase

I recently became aware of a UK based company called Mr. Nutcase. Their claim to fame is that they can print any image or design of your choice onto a variety of cases and covers to fit your iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, iPad/Mini, Macbook among other devices. So when I got the chance to try out their services, I jumped at it to create a iPhone 6 case for my wife that she might kind of sort of like. My sense of humor is kind of twisted, so whether she’d like this case is will be an open question as you will see in a second.

The process to create a case is actually very easy. Here’s what you need to do via their webpage:

  1. Choose the case (when it comes to the iPhone 6, there are three to choose from). In my case, I chose the Executive Flip Leather Case because it provides full body coverage whilst protecting it from dirt, abrasions and knocks in a stylish manner.
  2. Choose the layout that suits your design. There’s a large variety to choose from.
  3. Upload an image or images. They can be anything from graphics to photos.
  4. Type in some text and choose the color for the text.
  5. Choose the background color.
  6. Review your handiwork.
  7. Pay for it and wait for it to be delivered. Delivery times inside the UK are typically 1 – 2 working days, within Europe 5 working days, outside Europe up to 10 working days.
  8. Done. Declare victory and have a beer.

Here’s a screenshot of the case that I designed using the process I outlined above:

For the record, my wife does get hangry very easily and she admits that this is the case. Whether she likes this case and my sense of humor…. We’ll see. The red “Warning!” is a picture. The rest is text that I typed in.

It shipped out within 24 hours which is what the company say should happen. Here’s the final result when it arrived by post 10 calendar days later:

The printing is top shelf, but I could have centered things a bit better. I do note that the pink bled a bit at the bottom to make the transition from pink to white a bit uneven. But that was very minor and the average person will not care or even notice.

The stitching is very well done and there is a magnetic clasp that keeps the flap closed.

The iPhone fits very snug inside the case. There are cutouts for the volume buttons, power button, mute switch, headphone and Lightning jacks. The case looks like it will protect the iPhone from being inside a purse or in your pocket.

This particular case costs £19.95 and shipping is free worldwide. If you invest the time and effort in a design for a case, Mr. Nutcase will serve up a good looking and functional case for your device that you’ll love.

Now the only question is if my wife will like my “unique” sense of humor when I give her this case.
