Frequent readers of this blog will know that I always talk about getting a case for your smartphone to protect it. But I’ve come to realize that this advice can be applied to tablets as well. So I was intrigued when I pulled The Snugg iPad Mini Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand out of the FedEx Package this morning as this is only the second iPad case that I’ve had the chance to look at. The first thing I noticed about this portfolio style case is that it’s a quality product. The stitching (which in this case was white on black “PU leather” which you would be hard pressed to tell that it wasn’t leather) were straight and evenly spaced. It’s designed to protect every place were an iPad Mini could get damaged such as corners for example. Yet you still have access to the FaceTime camera as well as the Lightning port and switch gear. The interior is soft so that nothing gets scratched and the material feels like it’s of high quality. There’s also a loop to hold a pen or stylus in (which by the way can be hidden when it’s not required). The case is easy to hold and has a feel to it that is anything but slippery. As an aside, once you pop your iPad Mini in this case, it will not slip out. The case is also is somewhat rigid, so if you toss this case into a bag, pokes and bumps will not damage your iPad Mini. One thing I noticed right away that the magnet which keeps the lid closed (and the turns off the screen when the iPad is in it) is very good. It’s easy to open, but will stay closed when it’s supposed to.

This attention to design goes further as it can be used as stand to hold your iPad Mini in one of two angles. You could use the more upright angle for watching videos, and the flatter angle for typing. It’s a little hard to insert the lid into the tab. But over time I’m sure it will loosen up and become much easier. Once the tab is in though, the stand is very secure and it won’t tip on pretty much any surface (table top, bed, pillow, etc). The best feature in my opinion is the hand strap. I haven’t seen this on many cases but it comes in handy when you want to hold the iPad with one hand and type or swipe with the other. Since the hand strap is on the inside of the case, it could also double as a card/money/paper holder as well.

Now this is the part of the review where something negative about the product that is being reviewed gets highlighted. Except that in this case there’s nothing negative to report. That speaks to the quality of this iPad Mini case.

Now that one that I got was black which was $24.99 on Amazon, but it comes in a number of other colors and they are $29.99. If you’ve got an iPad Mini, The Snugg iPad Mini Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand is a great investment to protect it and enhance it’s usability.
