Not so long ago, if you wanted to get yourself into a small crossover, your immediate thoughts would be to look at the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, or Toyota Rav4 among other choices. But now there’s a new class of crossover which is known as the sub-compact crossover which is aimed at people who want something smaller than the usual suspects in the compact crossover class because they may live in urban environments where such a vehicle would be handy or just simply want a smaller vehicle. But they still want the utility of a crossover along with all wheel drive (For the record, my wife and I would be people who would fit that demographic). Mazda is one of the car companies who are entering this space and their entrant is the CX-3. Rather than comment on each individual picture, I’ll give you a look at the CX-3 and you can make your own judgment about its looks:
I have to admit that this is the first car that I’ve picked up from a car company to do a review that made me say “Wow, they really nailed the looks of this vehicle.” The proportions are perfect regardless what angle you look at it from and the Kodo Design really really fits the CX-3 well. Mazda really did a great job on the CX-3 to make it garner attention wherever it goes.
I’ll be posting a multi-part review that will cover the following sections:
- Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
- Interior
- Technology in the vehicle
- Wrap up
This week, I’ll see if the rest of it lives up to the looks. Without giving too much away, I will say that the drive does live up to the looks. Tune in tomorrow to see why I feel that way.
