As frequent readers know, I like to report on growing Canadian companies. Today I have the story of two companies who are merging to become a bigger player.
Optimal Payments who is Canadian based global online payment solutions provider announced that it is acquiring FANS Entertainment, a Montreal-based mobile applications developer for $16 million Canadian. Both these Canadian companies are on the forefront of the digital payment technhology industry.
FANS is focused on enhancing spectator experience at live sports and entertainment events with its mobile ticketing, transactions and concessions capabilities but its core software has the flexibility to service a broad range of vertical markets.
This acquisition will become a strategic growth driver for Optimal Payments’ core business in the mobile space since it will enable Optimal Payments to address immediate mobile priorities in an expedited manner through the FANS platform, to differentiate its mobile offerings and skill sets and to provide an entry point to the sports team and venues operations industries and other verticals.This deal will result in Optimal Payments becoming an even more dynamic player in the mobile payments space on the world stage.
I’d keep an eye on this as I believe this new entity is about to make some noise.
