Playaway LIGHT Audiobook Device Announced

Posted in Commentary with tags on March 13, 2014 by itnerd

If you like audiobooks, then you may be interested in a device called the Playaway LIGHT which is an all-in-one audiobook which gives listeners a simple, pre-loaded experience that they can take anywhere.

The Playaway LIGHT is the result of extensive customer feedback and user testing and includes many notable enhancements such as a large backlit LCD screen. The screen serves as the inspiration for the “LIGHT” launch campaign and will help listeners more easily access content day and night, regardless of surrounding light levels. The screen also provides key listener information including a book progress bar, chapter status and a battery life indicator – improving the overall user experience. Keeping with the theme of product mobility, the buttons are  easily recognizable by touch and the main buttons are reserved for singular functionality. This goes a long way towards making Playaway LIGHT easier to navigate without visual interaction, a quality extremely important for people on-the-go. Other features include High Definition audio, a universal auxiliary jack, five narration speeds, and automatic bookmarking.

To celebrate the launch, Findaway World is giving away a grand prize trip for two to the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas and $50,000 in Playaway collections. For your chance to win or to learn more about the Playaway LIGHT visit playaway.com.

BlackBerry Posts Two Significant Pieces Of News

Posted in Commentary with tags on March 13, 2014 by itnerd

BlackBerry would like you to know that they’re very much a player when it comes to smartphones in the enterprise. To illustrate that, they have two pieces of news to share.

The first piece of news is that an independent report released by the Australian ICT research firm Telsyte, BlackBerry was the most widely implemented MDM solution in Australia in 2013. To highlight BlackBerry’s continued market strength and popularity across Australian enterprises, the company announced this week that the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) and Questas, a professional services company, have chosen BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10) as their enterprise mobility management solution.

The second piece of news is that BlackBerry’s most recent customer wins extend beyond Australia. The company also announced today that ItaúUnibanco, the largest private bank in Latin America, is upgrading to more than 7,000 BlackBerry 10 smartphones and implementing BES10 to manage its mobile devices and protect its corporate data.

This seems to indicate that BlackBerry has some momentum behind it. Let’s see if it continues.
