Agility Logistics Brings More Efficiency & Sustainability to Processes & Customer Service With OpenText Content Services

Agility Logistics works with companies to move, manage and distribute the goods that underpin global commerce. OpenText Announces New Integration With Microsoft Teams

OpenText™ today announced the availability of its market leading Content Services technology for Microsoft Teams. This new integration enables use of OpenText Content Services for information governance and control.

As organizations adapt to the current global crisis, Content Services technologies allow remote workers to collaborate securely and productively. OpenText™ Content Services connects information across the enterprise with the people and systems that need it.

OpenText® Extended ECM for Microsoft Office 365 integrates content and collaboration tools into business processes. With today’s announcement, OpenText adds its market-leading information governance tools and systems to Teams, making an expanded set of compliance, records management, and archiving options available to Teams users and administrators. Extended ECM allows users to surface Teams content in context of relevant business processes across the enterprise, creating links with line-of-business systems and applications such as Salesforce, SAP, or Oracle. 

OpenText Extended ECM adds important functionality to Teams. Users can: 

  • Access and centrally govern customer content within the Teams environment;
  • Automate the creation of a Team specific to an OpenText business process;
  • Synchronize Teams membership with OpenText content management systems;
  • Archive Teams content to OpenText utilizing governance best practices; and
  • Retire Teams and dispose of noncrucial content automatically using OpenText Extended ECM.

The OpenText and Microsoft collaboration provides information management solutions that embrace and extend joint customers’ existing investments in these technologies, delivered off-cloud, hybrid cloud, or as a managed service on Microsoft Azure.

This latest integration with Microsoft joins an already vibrant set of solutions, including OpenText Extended ECM for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Carbonite Backup for Microsoft Office 365.

New SaaS applications to keep pace with information intensive challenges  

OpenText OT2 20.2 features new purpose-built Core SaaS applications that extend the value of existing OpenText on or off cloud deployments.  

OpenText™ Core for Building Information Modeling is the latest addition to OpenText’s growing roster of next-generation purpose-built SaaS applications. OpenText Buys Montreal’s Xmedius

OpenText™ today announced that it has acquired XMedius, a provider of secure information exchange and unified communication solutions. XMedius brings decades of experience and patented technologies to transform secure and collaborative communication, enabling organizations to move more workloads to the cloud and unlock the information advantage.

XMedius also provides innovative technologies to optimize the omnichannel customer experience and the connected business. Terms of Agreement and Preliminary Outlook

The purchase price of the acquisition is approximately $75 million in an all-cash transaction. XMedius currently generates approximately $40 million annually in revenue. OpenText expects first year revenues to be down, up to 20% due to customary purchase price accounting adjustments and typical integration activities. XMedius is not expected to contribute significant revenue to OpenText’s results for the fiscal third quarter ending March 31, 2020.

OpenText: Latest Threat Report Finds Spike In Phishing And Growth In Windows 7 Malware

OpenText™ today issued the 2020 Webroot Threat Report, highlighting not only the agility and innovation of cybercriminals who continue to seek out new ways to evade defenses, but also their commitment to long-established attack methods. Most notably, Webroot observed a 640 per cent increase in phishing attempts and a 125 per cent increase in malware targeting Windows 7®. The report is derived from metrics captured and analyzed by Webroot’s advanced, cloud-based machine learning architecture: the Webroot® Platform.

Notable Findings:

Phishing URLs encountered grew by 640 per cent in 2019.

  • 1 in 4 malicious URLs is hosted on an otherwise non-malicious domain.
  • 8.9 million URLs were found hosting a cryptojacking script.
  • The top sites impersonated by phishing sites or cybercriminals are Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google, PayPal and DropBox.
  • The top five kinds of websites impersonated by phishing sites are crypto exchanges (55%), gaming (50%), web email (40%), financial institutions (40%) and payment services (32%).

Malware targeting Windows 7® increased by 125 per cent.

  • 93.6 per cent of malware seen was unique to a single PC – the highest rate ever observed.
  • 85 per cent of threats hide in one of four locations: %temp%, %appdata%, %cache%, and %windir%, with more than half of threats (54.4%) on business PCs hiding in %temp% folders. This risk can be easily mitigated by setting a Windows policy to disallow programs from running from the temp directory.
  • IP addresses associated with Windows exploits grew by 360 percent, with the majority of exploits targeting out-of-date operating systems.

Consumer PCs remain nearly twice as likely to get infected as business PCs.

  • The data reveals that regions most likely to be infected also have the highest rates of using older operating systems.
  • Of the infected consumer devices, more than 35 per cent were infected more than three times, and nearly 10 per cent encountered six or more infections.
  • The continued insecurity of consumer PCs underscore the risk companies face in allowing employees to connect to business networks from their personal devices.

Trojans and malware accounted for 91.8 per cent of Android™ threats.

New Survey Highlights Growing Responsibilities For Legal Operations

OpenText today announced findings from a new report launched at Legaltech 2020 in conjunction with Ari Kaplan Advisors. The report highlights the need to take control of eDiscovery costs, with AI, cloud and security all listed as top priorities for enterprise legal departments.

Key findings from the OpenText 4th Annual Survey of Legal Operations Professionals include:

  • Controlling eDiscovery costs is the ultimate goal: Legal operations teams are focused on controlling eDiscovery costs by gaining transparency from law firms on discovery budgets and review efficiency, centralizing eDiscovery management, benchmarking success and partnering with managed review providers. Corporate legal teams are standardizing their internal process for eDiscovery, and even providing mandates to external counsel. 77 per cent contract directly with eDiscovery vendors, 74 per cent control which eDiscovery vendors their outside counsel uses, and 71 per cent have adopted a centralized approach to managing eDiscovery data. A full 42 per cent have adopted a single vendor model.
  • Increasing use and spend on AI tools: The drive to improve eDiscovery efficiency, spend and outcomes is fueling AI spending and usage. 83 per cent of respondents plan to increase spend in this area and 49 per cent reported using predictive coding (also known as technology-assisted review) in the past year (+18 YoY).
  • Moving to the cloud is a key initiative to optimize operations: 69 per cent of legal operations professionals saying their law departments are standardizing in the cloud.
  • Data security is top-of-mind: 94 per cent (+3% YoY) of respondents reported they have data security concerns around distributing electronically stored information to multiple discovery vendors and law firms.
