Less Taps Needed

Waze has redesigned version 4.0 to better serve your driving needs and experience. You’ll notice it takes less taps to access many of our key features. Tapping the left button pulls up the navigation menu and all your frequent and favorite destinations. Meanwhile, tapping the right button gives you quick access to your contacts for a  number of actions including sending directions, your location, and ETA to those awaiting your arrival. You can view alternate routes, add a stop or let someone know you’re on the way from the  center button where your ETA time is displayed.

Newly Designed Reporting Menu

Some of the best feedback Waze has received on 4.0 is that Wazers love the report menu now located right on the map with a big orange button. The menu is faster with bolder, color­coded categories. Also, there’s a quick report action that you can activate by  tapping and holding down the report menu.

Reminders to Leave for Events on Time

Waze 4.0 also gives you reminders to leave on time for Calendar events based on traffic. Just sync your Calendar and Waze will be on the lookout for unexpected delays along your route, When it’s time to hit the road, Waze will send you a notification to make your appointment on time. Remember to add a street address to your event location and you’re set.

 Minimized Battery Usage

Another fan favorite! Version 4.0 significantly reduces battery consumption so you can keep Waze fired up without losing your charge.

Waze announces the launch of the Waze Transport SDK (Software Developer  Kit) (​http://www.waze.com/SDK​), empowering on­-demand and transport companies to optimize  service and grow their businesses with Waze ETA, turn­-by-­turn navigation and preferred routing displayed in their native applications. The Transport SDK brings unprecedented insight to partners, built upon years of  driving data from more than 50 million active Wazers globally ­- one of the largest historical and predictive data sets now available in the traffic industry.

Six initial partners in four industries, serving nine countries, demonstrate the versatility of Waze to power  navigation for mobile developers of any sector:

Inaugural Transport SDK launch partners were selected based upon track records of innovation, a shared  vision for improved consumer service and enough scale to contribute significant, constructive feedback.

Both mobile developers and consumers benefit when a service uses the ​ Waze Transport SDK.  Better ­optimized routes means more passengers served and greater opportunity to grow each business.  Beyond accessing their selection of renowned Waze navigation tools, including driver ETA and turn-­by-­turn  navigation, partners are empowered to build new features that make their apps even better. The power of real-­time information means more robust, innovative services that are easier to implement, such as sharing  the exact minute a delivery will arrive, or peace of mind when a driver quickly finds a parking spot.

Far from ‘one size fits all,’ the SDK represents a flexible solution for developers who have a precise vision of  what’s needed to enhance their business. Lyft, for example, will rely on the Waze Transport SDK to update  driver routes in real-­time and ​ let drivers toggle between apps, a common request among drivers who rely  upon an external navigation service.

Passengers of partners like Lyft may wait less time for a ride and experience a faster, more efficient route ­ likely safer too, since the Waze routing algorithm incorporates road hazards and unexpected traffic and closures.

This announcement is the latest step in a broader industry effort by Waze to work across transport and  municipal organizations to offer more efficient routes that yield safer roads. In the past two years, the  company has begun to hone enterprise services powered by its unprecedented knowledge base. The Waze  Connected Citizens program (http://www.waze.com/ccp) has pioneered a free two-­way data exchange with  more than 55 municipal organizations for safer, more efficient roadways. And more than 135 broadcast  partners benefit from the Waze for Broadcasters tool to power traffic reporting with Waze real-time data and  insight from drivers themselves.
