KORT Payments today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of AptPay Inc., a Toronto-based payments technology company specializing in real-time payments and payment orchestration. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AptPay’s platform provides businesses with a single integration for moving money across multiple payment rails, including MastercardTM Send, VISA® Original Credit Transaction (OCT), Interac e-Transfer®, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Automated Clearing House (ACH), Real Time Payments (RTP), FedNow® and cross-border. It has built-in compliance tools for Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and sanctions screening. AptPay serves merchants and platforms across Canada and the United States, with a strong presence in online gaming and gambling, digital assets, financial services and other high-growth sectors.

The acquisition expands KORT’s capabilities beyond card acceptance to include account-to-account payments and disbursements, enabling customers to collect and send funds through a single provider and consolidated platform. The transaction also supports KORT’s growth strategy by broadening its product offering and accelerating its expansion in the United States.

Following the closing, AptPay will operate as a division of KORT under the AptPay brand, and Mr. Syed will continue to lead that business unit. AptPay customers and partners will continue to be supported without interruption.

The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
