ASUS Chairman Says He Is Cutting Back On Windows RT

Here’s another sign that Windows RT is a flop. ASUS via their chairman Jonney Shih said to AllThingsDigital that they’re going to be doing less with Windows RT:

“The result is not very promising,” the Asus chairman toldAllThingsD, noting both Microsoft’s well-publicized issues with the Surface RT as well as Asus’s own VivoTab RT.

While not completely ruling out future Windows RT products, Shih said that, when it comes to Windows, he is putting all of his time and energy into devices that use Intel chips.

People still use a lot of classic Windows apps, Shih said.

So, seeing as Microsoft wrote down $900 million of their Surface tablets, this doesn’t come as a shock. It pretty much shows that Windows RT tablets are not something that consumers want. That will be good news to Apple and Samsung.
