This week, Samsung unveiled ‘AI for All’ at CES 2024, a new vision for how artificial intelligence technology will enable people to experience their devices more intuitively and conveniently. Samsung’s strategy focuses on the role of AI in enhancing connected experiences that are both simple and useful, helping improve people’s daily lives.

Throughout CES, Samsung presented a variety of products and services that will help this vision come to life, specifically Samsung’s Galaxy Book4 which will be the company’s most AI-ready laptop series yet. Through Samsung’s collaboration with Microsoft, the user experience is being advanced further with new connectivity features that make the Galaxy Book4 series more adaptable than its predecessors. Below are a few of the product highlights:

  • Microsoft Copilot connects the Galaxy Book4 series with Samsung Galaxy smartphone to make them work seamlessly together, so that it feels like just one device. Microsoft Copilot can find, read or summarize text messages from a user’s Galaxy smartphone and even automatically create and send messages on a user’s behalf directly from the PC.
  • The Galaxy Book4 series can now turn Samsung Galaxy smartphones’ powerful camera into a PC webcam, using it for video calls on virtual conferencing apps.
  • The Galaxy Book4 series can also be paired with other Galaxy devices beyond smartphones. The Tab S9 Ultra can be used as an additional PC monitor, and users can enjoy clear sound quality when the PC is connected with Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

Through the ongoing collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft, more intelligent capabilities will continue to be made possible on the Galaxy Book4 series.

Corini has over 23 years of experience in cybersecurity and has held numerous sales and channel leadership positions. He most recently served as the VP of Global Channels at HYPR, where he designed and launched a new channel-focused GTM strategy that was responsible for over one-third of the company’s pipeline. Goodman brings over 15 years of security experience and comes to Abnormal most recently from Google, where she served as the Global Lead of Strategic Alliances & OEMs. While there, she launched a global OEM program that grew over 200% in its first year and led her team to grow GSI revenue by 250% over the course of 2023. Previously, Goodman was the Director of Global Strategic Alliances at ForeScout Technologies, where the alliance team created an integration monetization plan that now represents 25% of overall company revenue, and held channel program management roles at McAfee.

The two executives are joining an established channel-first organization with strong technology partnerships. Abnormal currently supports dozens of strategic partners, including value-added resellers, by providing its behavioral AI platform to protect customers against the growing threat of advanced, socially-engineered email attacks. The email security platform currently integrates with Microsoft, Google, and CrowdStrike, as well as dozens of other cybersecurity platforms. Capital Health Pwned By LockBit

Posted in Commentary on January 10, 2024 by itnerd

The LockBit ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the November 2023 cyberattack on the Capital Health hospital network and is threatening to leak 7 terabytes of stolen data by today if ransomware demands are not met.

Last November, the New Jersey and Pennsylvania primary healthcare service provider experienced an IT systems outage following a cyberattack on its network. Despite operations returning to normal, Capital Health’s latest updates indicate they are still investigating whether data was stolen during the cyberattack.

This past Sunday, the LockBit ransomware gang claimed responsibility for the attack on its data leak extortion portal alleging to have stolen seven terabytes of medical data which they threaten to leak today if the organization fails to meet their ransom payment demands.

“We purposely didn’t encrypt this hospital so as not to interfere with patient care. We just stole over 10 million files,” LockBit stated on their data leak site.

Emily Phelps, VP, Cyware had this to say:

“This ransomware attack underscores the critical importance of hospitals gaining access to actionable threat intelligence swiftly and effectively. Hospitals are essential service providers, and any delay in identifying and mitigating cyber threats can have dire consequences, not just for data security but also for patient care – even though the ransomware group did not encrypt the files.”

It’s nice that LockBit has some degree of ethics. But they’re still holding patient data for ransom. That’s bad for the patients involved in this through no fault of their own, it’s bad for the hospital, and it’s bad for all of us as this will just keep happening until we all get serious about locking things down so these sorts of event don’t happen.
